Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

You will own services that carry real money and real inventory. BizPlus ERP runs the production floor for manufacturers who cannot afford a bad deployment, and our custom platform work sits equally close to the business. This is backend engineering where correctness matters more than novelty, and where you will be in the room when the design decisions are made rather than handed a ticket.

What you will do

• Design and build APIs and background services for ERP, CRM and bespoke client platforms — schema, contracts, migrations and all.
• Take features from a half-formed requirement through to production, including the awkward questions nobody asked at kick-off.
• Model data properly: transactions, idempotency, audit trails and reconciliation for workflows that touch stock and invoices.
• Write the integrations that make the system worth buying — Tally, payment gateways, GST filing, SMS and WhatsApp providers, hospital devices.
• Profile and fix the slow paths. Most of our performance work is query shape and N+1s, not exotic caching.
• Review code with care, and leave the codebase more obvious than you found it.
• Take part in the on-call rotation for the platforms you build, with a real runbook and a tested rollback.

What we are looking for

• 4–8 years building server-side systems that other people depend on.
• Strong command of at least one of Node.js / TypeScript, Java or .NET, and a willingness to work in the others.
• Genuine relational database skill — indexes, execution plans, isolation levels, and knowing when normalisation stops helping.
• Experience with a cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP) and containerised deployment.
• Testing habits that survive a deadline: unit tests for logic, integration tests for the paths that would cost a customer money.
• Clear written English. Much of our design work happens in documents before it happens in code.

Nice to have

• ERP, accounting, healthcare or telephony domain exposure.
• Event-driven work with Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar.
• Experience migrating a legacy system without a big-bang cutover.
